The Ontario Fetal Centre (OFC) recently celebrated the seventh anniversary of the first in-utero surgery in Canada to treat spina bifida.

Today, Eiko is a busy seven-year-old. However, in 2017 she underwent groundbreaking surgery in utero to repair a form of spina bifida. Since then, the OFC has completed more than 50 spina bifida repairs, treating patients from across the country.

“We in Canada are so lucky to have access to this incredibly talented team.”
Romeila, Eiko's mom

Eiko’s legacy lives on in Sinai Health’s Labour of Love program, created to celebrate the birth of a child. With each Labour of Love donation of $100 or more, you receive a teddy bear, named after Eiko, as well as a custom certificate and inclusion of your baby’s name on Mount Sinai Hospital’s digital wall. With every donation generously matched by David and Stacey Cynamon, your gift has twice the impact.
