With collaboration across clinical specialties in a single space, the Centre is poised to revolutionize care for mature women.

In 2022, Sinai Health announced plans to create a Centre for Mature Women’s Health (CMWH), an ambitious, $50-million initiative with multiple phases. The Centre will solidify Sinai Health as a leader in addressing the spectrum of health challenges women face as they age.

This innovative Centre expands Mount Sinai Hospital's internationally recognized programs in mature women's health by fostering collaboration across clinical specialties in a single space to improve access to comprehensive care.

While initially serving the Greater Toronto Area, its impact will be felt internationally, through research, practice and education. With unique features such as the Carol Mitchell Chair in Menopause and a rare menopause fellowship program, the Centre will fill a critical gap in women's health.

The vision for the Centre for Mature Women's Health will be realized over three phases:

Phase One was successfully completed in October 2023. In addition to meeting the initial $15-million fundraising goal, the Centre appointed its inaugural Director, internationally renowned menopause expert Dr. Wendy Wolfman.

Phase Two will see the construction of an integrated physical space, investment in cutting-edge equipment, and the expansion of specialized care areas, including menopause, urogynecology and sexual medicine. This phase will prioritize the mobilization of research efforts and promotion of medical education on menopause and mature women's health.

Phase Three will support core research operations, lay the foundation for long-term collaboration, and establish pioneering Chairs in emerging fields related to mature women’s health.

Dr. Wendy Wolfman and her patient, Jan MacKay, join Sinai Fireside host Catherine Murray for an in-depth conversation on the vision of the Centre for Mature Women’s Health.

Support from the Campaign Cabinet

Anchoring the creation of the CMWH is the Campaign Cabinet, chaired by Maxine Granovsky Gluskin. It’s thanks to this group of committed supporters and volunteers that Phase One of the Centre was completed. Launching Phase Two of the Centre less than one year after its creation is a milestone made possible because of the tireless effort of the Campaign Cabinet and the catalyzing support of the CMWH donors, most notably Carole Herman Zucker and Dr. Bernard Zucker, Catherine Murray and Les Boris, CIBC, Diane Blake and Stephen Smith, The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation, Ilana and Anton Rabie and Family, Janice and Earle O'Born, The Honourable Jerry and Carole Grafstein, Marjorie Schwartz and Family, RBC Foundation, The Sarick Family, The Schulich Foundation, and two anonymous donors.
